攀登英语是北京师范大学出版的一套分级读物，是许多妈妈公认的目前国内英语读物中最好的。这本书是第五级中的一本，翻译过来就是《你是我心目中最美的天鹅》。
Jane was fat and grey when she was born.
"Oh,what an ugly duckling!"
The neighbours didn't like Jane.
Her brothers and sisters didn't like her,either.
刚出生的Jane，胖胖的，浑身灰突突的。
“哦，多丑的小鸭子啊！”
邻居们不喜欢她。
她的兄弟姐妹们也不喜欢她。
But Mommy Duck loved her very much.
但是鸭妈妈非常地爱她。
One day,
Mommy Duck read a bedtime story to the little ducklings.
"...and then,the ugly duckling becomes
a beautiful swan!"
一天，
鸭妈妈给小鸭子们讲睡前故事。
“...然后，丑小鸭变成了
美丽的天鹅！”
"Yeah,Jane might be a swan,too.She is also..."
“耶，Jane也可能是一只天鹅，她也...”
"Jane,honey,
you are the most beautiful duckling in my heart."
Mommy Duck gave Jane a good-night kiss.
“Jane,亲爱的，
你在我的心目中最美的小鸭子。”
鸭妈妈给了Jane一个晚安吻。
Jane closed her eyes.She had a dream that night.
In the dream,she also became a beautiful swan.
Jane闭上了眼睛。那天晚上她做了一个梦。
在梦里，她也变成了美丽的天鹅。
In the following days,
villagers found that Jane was different.
Every morning,
she got up early and combed
her feathers carefully by the lake.
在接下来的日子里，
村民们发现Jane变了。
每一天早上，
她都早得特别地早，然后在湖边仔仔细细地梳理自己的羽毛。
In the market,
she tried to act gracefully like a lady swan.
在市场里，
她的行为举止就像一位天鹅小姐一样。
When some naughty ducks
played jokes on her,
Jane smiled back gently.
当一些淘气的鸭子
取笑她的时候，
Jane报以微笑。
Day after day,Jane grew up.
She was big,fat,and gery.
But she was always clean and neat.
日子一天天过去，Jane长大了。
她长得又大又胖，浑身灰突突的。
但是她总是非常干净和整洁。
She acted so gracefully that many ducks tried to follow her.
She was so tender to others that all the children
loved to play with he .
她的行为举止是如此的优雅，以至于很多的鸭子追随着她。
她如此的温和，以至于所有的孩子都乐意和她一起玩儿。
No one called her ugly duckling any more.
But Jane was still upset.
"Mom,I cannot be a swan,can I?"
Mommy Duck,who was very old now,hugged Jane.
"Dear,look at you.You are such a pretty lady swan."
再也没有人管她叫丑小鸭了。
但是Jane 依然觉得悲伤。
“妈妈，我不会成为天鹅的，对吗？”
鸭妈妈，已经是一位非常老的妈妈了，抱着Jane.
“亲爱的，看看你自己吧。你是这么美丽的天鹅小姐。”
